Ms. Eurie Ampuan-ODonnell

It must have been a while since she last visited Capul and like all others now based abroad, she does miss the place a lot. Visiting this site somehow soothes the longing as she gets updated on the goings-on in our place.

In a letter she said, "Once again,I visited bandilyo and looking at the pictures I can't help but stop and think awhile; and ask myself,,,,. Am I this old? Oh! boy, time flies. I don't even recognize those faces I'm staring at, only of those I know personally. Take Care and God Bless! I saw ur mom' s pictures she still looks great. but it just reminds me of Nanay too." (On a personal note, our parents were very close friends and as kids, we looked up to Eurie and Sally (Calamay) as the ideals - intelligent and good-lookers.)

I didn't get much details on her whereabouts except that she now resides in Hawaii with her family. The pics here were taken during a Wowowee visit in the island and during a wedding where she stood as ninang. The two boys are her sons: Patrick Ampuan ODonnell, 11 yrs old and Martin Andrew ODonnell, 9 yrs. Also in the pics is her friend's daughter.

But huge it may have been, it was not able to steal the thunder away from the real stars of the show - the street performers. This group won Best in Costume and Best in Performance Showcase for the barangay-based competition.

Editorial: A Future For Sale

Note: This post is the Administrator's take on how the recent elections went. Fair comments are welcome. From how I saw it, it was indeed an impressive election. It definitely was more peaceful than the most recent ones. Automation made the process exciting (or worrisome) but at the same time challenging. Truly, it was heartwarming to see people brave the punishing summer heat and the tiring wait just to be able to cast their votes. There is no doubt in my mind that the results reflected the Abaknons’  true democratic will. However, why they voted for whom is an entirely different issue.  I wish to think that in the final analysis, they did vote with the thought of what’s best for Capul. But even with that, any voter who receives money during election time still compromises his vote.  While I do not wish to rob the winners of the glory of their victory, I bet that the aftertaste of their win would have been much sweeter if they (again, i mean ALL of them) did not gi...
