Celebrations for the Calamays


December hosts many milestones for the family of Mr. & Mrs. Lucio Calamay. To get maximum attendance, the celebrations were "synchronized" (as Muno Lucio puts it) on December 19 (which incidentally was Sally's birthday).

Note: This post is the Administrator's take on how the recent elections went. Fair comments are welcome. From how I saw it, it was indeed an impressive election. It definitely was more peaceful than the most recent ones. Automation made the process exciting (or worrisome) but at the same time challenging. Truly, it was heartwarming to see people brave the punishing summer heat and the tiring wait just to be able to cast their votes. There is no doubt in my mind that the results reflected the Abaknons’  true democratic will. However, why they voted for whom is an entirely different issue.  I wish to think that in the final analysis, they did vote with the thought of what’s best for Capul. Abaknon Festival: Tribu Paragmalli

If Brgy. San Luis brought crabs, this group brought a stand-out animal - the Pinoy beast of burden. But huge it may have been, it was not able to steal the thunder away from the real stars of the show - the street performers. This group won Best in Costume and Best in Performance Showcase for the barangay-based competition.

Attention Abaknon Writers: Bandilyo Abaknon will be holding an Essay Writing contest open to all Abaknons of any age or profession. It may be written in English, Tagalog or Inabaknon. The essays shall focus on anything Abaknon: the writer’s personal experiences in Capul or his being Abaknon, his/her impressions of its people, its customs and traditions and everything else of the same grain. The essays must be original and must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere, in print or in the net. School essays will be accepted.
