"Capul, Palingnga Kaw?" (Part 3)

This tarpaulin signage invites UP students and visitors to visit the photoethnographic exhibit on Capul at the Vargas Museum. It will run until October 7, 2007, so for those who have not yet paid a visit, please do so. Sikat i Capul ato.

And this is Dr. Kiko Datar, the man who made the study and the exhibit possible. Jethro Magdaraog told me that he was amazed by the overwhelming reception of the CapuleƱos re his and the students' work. To him we say, "It's our honor, Sir. Thank you for making us proud of who we are."

And below are the magical pictures captured by Dr. Datar's camera. Capul never really looked this beautiful!!

  2. You're welcome Karen. We really appreciate the work you did.

By the way, please send me the other pictures you took when you were in Capul. I'd love to feature them here. And if you have excerpts of your research, please share them with us.

I actually thought your group were Abaknons as I have had little contact with the youth of Capul these years. You were good! Mahaya salamat si pagbuwan be honra si lingwahe pati kultura kami.

really, capul spells enchantment and mystique...has produced hardy and industrious people...survived the harsh condition of the land and sea...experienced political and social unrest...but has always risen above all diversity.
