Back to School
It's mid-June. By this time, schools have opened and the students have already re-adjusted themselves to the rigors of academic life after the leisurely vacations.
For many of us, the most nostalgic period for our educational journey is our high school days. This being the time when we were no longer kids but not quite adults yet, this became a time for extreme fun, mindless experimentation, and yes, serious study. And listening at how others talk about their high schools, it seems pretty obvious that those of us who came from CAIS had much more excitement, much more life.
This post therefore is a tribute to Capul Agricultural and Industrial School - the school that nurtured and cultivated our dreams. Despite its modest and humble stature, it became an institution filled with seamless pride. The long list of its successful graduates, many of them even doing better than those coming from exclusive, highly financed and stellar schools, only proved that learning is the stuff of the mind and not the pocket nor of social standing. This confirms that we did learn from a group of equally dedicated and talented teachers, but better yet, in an environment that promoted a deep sense of belonging.
The pics here featured were taken last December, when school was on break. It is thus an adulterated view of the school .... as it rests - and awaits for the rambunctious bunch that will soon tread its grounds.
