Lamiraw organizes ALAG

The Lamiraw Literary Arts Organization of the Tiburcio Tancinco Memorial Institute of Science and Technology (TTMIST) organized the Abaknon Literary Arts Guild (ALAG) on September 19, 2009 at the SB Hall of the Municipality of Capul, Northern Samar.

Hon. Mayor Ignacio Cascaño received the Lamiraw writers on September 18, 2009 at his office to formally welcome and thank the effort made by the Calbayognon creative writers.

Mr. Harold L. Mercurio, the Lamiraw convenor, spearheaded the said activity which was participated in by students and teachers from Capul Central Elementary School (CCES), Capul Agro-Industrial School (CAIS) and the Local Government Unit (LGU). The election of officers of ALAG followed after a lecture on “Poetry: Traditional and Modern Writing” by Mr. Mercurio. A translation activity of the poems “Bump Cars” and “Ayaw Pagpudla an Tuog” from Waray to Inabaknon was also done as part of the output of the participants.

With a total of twenty five members, ALAG elected thirteen officers. They were as follows:

President, Hon. Marlon Mente; Vice President, Rhea Sauro; Secretary, Milen Esteria; Treasurer, Leonila Salazar; PIO, Nimfa Saluib; Bus. Mngrs., Patrick Chad Ablig and Marvic Sauro; Auditor, Narcessa Ann Largo; LGU Cluster Head, Mrs. April Cascaño; CAIS Cluster Head, Mrs. Teodora Gaco; CCES Cluster Head, Mrs. Virgenia Gasid; D’ Islanders Cluster Head, Mrs. Celia Catucod; and ALAG Monitoring Coordinator, Reza Magdaraog.
