Alvin Aguilar: One of Metro Mag's Men of Summer

 
Metro Magazine has released this March its yearly list of "sizzling eyeful of the opposite sex's best specimen" which it dubs as Men of Summer. And guess what, of the eight featured men, one is model Alvin Aguilar, who of course is an Abaknon.  

The complete rundown of Metro's Men of Summer is as follows:

Alvin may not have spent much time in Capul, but he claims he is an Abaknon by  heart.  In an on-line interview with Bandilyo, he said that he actually studied in Capul Central Elementary School from Grade 3 to 6 and started his 4th year in CAIS. As if to prove his claim, he mentioned the names of his former classmates (the batch of Ritchie Enecillo , Dianne Marzol and Glem Garais); Y2004). And to cap it, he even admitted to still missing "someone" from there. (I promised to keep it a secret though. He he. - Admin)

Alvin's parents are Mila Bulan-Ampuan (daughter of Lazaro "Laloy" Ampuan and Pelicola "Coling" Ampuan of Diraya) and Antonio Alcantara Aguilar. He is the only child. The family is now based in Cavite.

Alvin's name is now becoming a by-word in the local modeling world as he has already invaded the industry's most prestigious shows, including the Philippine Fashion Week, Cosmopolitan Bachelor Bash, Folded & Hung Street Cast and Penshoppe's Stylescape.

Born January 27, Alvin is now 22 years old. With a 5'11" frame, he regularly plays basketball and is an active member of Drago Pilipinas, a competitive team of dragon boat rowers. He is also into billiards.
Other credits to his name were modeling stints for Travelife, Marie Claire, Jag Jeans and Guess. He is currently being managed by Raven Models.

The caption reads: “This is one of the three available versions of Philippine Estudiantina dances, popular in its broken Spanish name, "Estudiantina de Capuleño". The proper term should have been "La Estudiantina Capuleña". This dance is simply called Estudiantina in the other towns in Samar where it is also popular. The dance could have derived its name from "estudiantina" which is the all-string band that plays the dance music in the many 'baylihan' during the Spanish colonial period. Tribu Mananguete: Landusan Boys

This was one of the entries for the school-based category. Coming from the Landusan National High School, the team was composed mainly of boys. Coached by Mr. Oniel Pelito, they wore coconut leaves woven like skirts as they simulated the tuba-gatherers. This group proved to be the most colorful and playful of the lot.
